Owhonda Nwokekoro was named one of ten winners of The Lord Paul Pitch Award Competition 2025 at the University of Wolverhampton, twelve days before Cyber Heroez was incorporated. The £600 went into starting the company.

Owhonda Nwokekoro pitched the venture that would become Cyber Heroez in June 2025 and was named one of ten recipients of £600 from a final twenty in The Lord Paul Pitch Award Competition, run by the University of Wolverhampton’s Research and Enterprise Directorate. The decision came on 20 June 2025, twelve days before Cyber Heroez CIC was incorporated, so the certificate names him personally rather than a company.

The competition is open to the University’s students and graduate founders who are turning ideas into ventures. Being backed at that stage gave the idea behind Cyber Heroez its first external validation, and the £600 went straight into forming the company and covering its earliest operating costs.

The award was about validating an idea rather than a track record. It confirmed that the gap between the cybersecurity threats communities face and the tools and education available to them was real, urgent, and worth building for — the conviction that has driven everything since.
